Rancho Vista has a diverse population of students that speak a wide range of languages from around the world. Often, but not always, students learning English as a second language need additional support to help them develop better speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. The school receives funding from the state of California specifically targeted towards this purpose.
For many years, Rancho Vista has used its funding for English Language Learners (ELL) to hire highly qualified instructional assistants to work with ELL students both in their classrooms and through the RTI intervention program. The purpose of these ELL assistants is to provide direct support to language learners that will move them towards mastery of the English Language.
In 2017-18, Rancho Vista will once again use ELL funding to hire two instructional assistants for a total of forty hours/weekly.
Rancho Vista has a committee to share information and gather input from parents of ELL students. It is called the English Leaner Advisory Committee (ELAC). If you are interested in attending ELAC meetings or serving as an ELAC committee member, please email Mrs. Kuykendall at
